Cathy’s maritime heroes are her passion! Her talks on our maritime heritage are thoroughly researched and supplemented with stories from the people she meets on cruise assignments around the world, and images of monuments commemorating past adventurers.
Sailing and the sea is in Cathy’s blood! Born in Norfolk herself, she learnt to sail in Suffolk, and was part of the Wayfarer racing fleet on the river Deben. Her mother served in the Orient Line, and an ancestor was purser on board one of Nelson’s ships at the Battle of Copenhagen. She is a member of the Society for Nautical Research, the Yachting Journalists’ Association, the National Maritime Museum, and is Editor of the Ipswich Maritime Trust’s magazine.
